Embarking on the journey towards attaining a quality education is no small feat. Following the completion of my master’s degree at one of Tanzania’s best universities, I felt compelled to seek further academic enrichment at a distinguished institution beyond the confines of my continent. My quest led me to explore numerous esteemed universities worldwide, each boasting high rankings, esteemed reputations, and renowned faculty. However, amidst the array of options, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University captured my attention. Several factors influenced my decision to make this university my destination for pursuing a doctoral degree. Firstly, its prestigious standing played a pivotal role. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University not only ranks as the best educational institution in Kazakhstan but also holds the distinction of being the foremost university in the entirety of Central Asia. Such a prestigious reputation naturally attracts top-tier professors, fostering an environment that cultivates competent graduates capable of thriving in the global arena.
Secondly, the university’s commitment to modern learning facilities significantly appealed to me. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University stands among a select few worldwide equipped with state-of-the-art educational resources. Its designation as a smart university ensures that the majority of learning tools are digitalized, enhancing the teaching and learning experience for both students and lecturers. The presence of projectors, smart boards, and a well-digitized library accessible online underscores its dedication to facilitating academic excellence. Moreover, the university boasts ample infrastructure, including cafeterias, hostels, supermarkets, and sports facilities, ensuring a well-rounded student experience conducive to both academic and personal growth. Thirdly, the university’s location in Kazakhstan, a country renowned for experiencing all four seasons distinctly, presented an enticing prospect. Coming from a tropical climate, the opportunity to immerse myself in a region with diverse weather patterns added to the allure of my academic journey. Additionally, the warmth and hospitality of the Kazakh people made me feel welcomed, easing the transition as I pursued my studies away from home.
In general, enrolling in Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for my doctoral studies has proven to be a golden opportunity. Since joining this esteemed institution, I have witnessed significant personal and academic growth in the field of Information Science. As I approach the culmination of my studies, I am confident that the knowledge and skills acquired will not only benefit my home country of Tanzania but also contribute to the broader global landscape.
Finally, I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my domestic supervisor, Associate Professor Sadykova R.O., for her unwavering academic guidance since my inception at the university.
